About Us

Young Women Rising (YWRising) is a project of the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children and Seniors (CWCS) and is a natural extension of the commissions work in promoting civics and leadership. The project offers skill-building events, volunteer opportunities, guest speakers, a comprehensive newsletter, an annual essay contest for high school juniors, a signature service project called #ProjectPeriod and more.

To join YWRising you must be a young woman between the ages of 18-35 and reside in Connecticut. Joining is easy, free and gets you automatically signed up for our monthly newsletter.

Steering Committee:

A diverse group of 12 young women make up the Young Women Rising steering committee. These incredible women help shape the direction of the program and are instrumental in planning our events and opportunities.
